MailerLite alternative: pay per email, not per subscriber
MailerLite charges by subscribers, in tiers, and caps the emails on its Comfort plan; Kubo Mail charges by the emails you send. With a big list and few campaigns the difference is large; with a small list, MailerLite can come out cheaper. Here is the math, using the prices on the official websites.
How each one charges
Kubo Mail
- By the emails of each month: each message to a person counts as one.
- Unlimited contacts on paid plans; on Free, up to 2,500.
- Unlimited users on paid plans, each with their own role; on Free, 2.
- Every feature on every plan: the only thing that changes is how many emails you send a month.
MailerLite
- By the subscribers on your list, in tiers from 500 to over 200,000.
- A Free plan (250 subscribers, 2,500 emails a month and 2 users), Comfort, Power and Enterprise.
- Comfort sends up to 10 times your tier’s ceiling each month and allows 3 users; Power has no monthly email limit (under its fair use policy) and unlimited users.
- Both paid plans remove the MailerLite logo and include every feature, with tighter limits on Comfort (for example, 50 automations) than on Power.
- Billed yearly, 10% less.

When each one fits better
MailerLite fits better if…
- You want, in the same tool, landing pages, websites, a blog or to sell digital products on top of the newsletter: MailerLite includes them.
- You want automations: Comfort includes 50 and Power, as many as you want. Kubo Mail does not have automations yet.
- You send a huge number of campaigns to a small list: Power does not limit monthly emails, and can come out cheaper than a Kubo Mail plan, which charges by emails.
- Your list is small and you write often: Comfort can come out cheaper, as the first case above shows.
Kubo Mail fits better if…
- Your list is big and you send few campaigns: you do not pay for subscribers, but for emails.
- Your team is bigger than Comfort’s 3 users and you do not want to move to Power just for that: in Kubo Mail they are unlimited on paid plans, each with their own role.
- You do not want your price to go up every time your list crosses a tier: in Kubo Mail, contacts do not count on paid plans.
- You want proof of consent for every contact: where they came from, when, and which text they accepted.
How to move over from MailerLite
Kubo Mail imports any CSV with an email column: export your list from wherever you have it and upload it. The import cleans misspelled, disposable and duplicate addresses and respects anyone who already unsubscribed. Only contacts who gave their consent. Your emails will go out from your own domain, authenticated with DKIM.

The four cases above work it out from the official prices.
